So many moms I know take their daughters with them to get their nails done. Even my own daughter, at 3 years old, asks for her nails polished and says she likes it because it makes her fingers “feel pretty”. But as soon as those fingers are feeling as pretty as can be, they’re in her mouth and by the end of the day, all of the polish is gone. Although the amount of polish on her nails at any time is minuscule, as a mom, I’ve still thought about the fact that there are chemicals in the polish that made their way into her body.
Recently I was introduced to Piggy Paint, a nontoxic, odorless, kid-friendly nail polish and is made by a mom (of course) and marketed with a slogan that says it all, Natural As Mud. Melanie Hurley, a mom of two girls, felt exactly the way I described above and invented Piggy Paint, a water-based, non-toxic nail polish made of all natural ingredients. We tried Piggy Paint on my daughter’s piggies and we both loved it. One marked difference from traditional nail polish is that the applicator brush is small enough for tiny fingers, which means no extra nail polish drips to clean up. My daughter loved the colors and their names – what could be more fantastic to a thee year old than Clouds of Candy, Dandelion Dance and Forever Fancy? An added bonus – Piggy Paint makes a nail polish remover that is also safe to use containing none of the solvents found in other removers.
Piggy Paint is super easy to order online – log onto www.PiggyPaint.com, and it comes in adorable little gift sets (perfect for birthday presents for your own little divas!). And, if you use the code Piggy15, you’ll get 15% off your order, plus free domestic shipping on orders over $25.
Disclosure: Piggy Paint sent me one bottle of nail polish and one bottle of remover so that I could give you my honest opinion in this review. I do, however, need to purchase new bottles of Piggy Paint before my daughter goes online an orders it herself!
