Those that know me know that I really do love Disney, my favorite part, of course, being Disney World. Last year we took our two kids and there was really nothing like
their excitement when they saw the characters and the magic that really is Disney. When MomCentral asked if we wanted to see Disney On Ice presents Celebrations!, we immediately said yes.
Last night, our family, along with thousands of others, saw Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto skate and dance in a winter wonderland, a Halloween haunt with the Disney Villains, a Very Merry Unbirthday Party and a Royal Ball with the Disney Princesses, followed by a trip around the world to places like Hawaii, China and New Orleans where they celebrated holidays and festivals. Watching my three year old daughter laugh and smile when she saw the Princesses felt like we were back in Disney World again (although this time it was much colder!).
Of course Disney doesn’t just put on great performances, they actually do good all over the world. Have you head about their new program for 2010 called Give A Day, Get A Day? Through this fantastic year-long program, if you volunteer one day at a participating organization (and there are many organizations to choose from), Disney will verify your service and send you a voucher good for a one day ticket to one of their theme parks. For more information, visit Give A Day, Get A Day.
On a local level, Disney is also doing good. They recently visited pediatric patients at Nassau University Medical Center with Mickey, Minnie and the Marines to spread early holiday cheer by giving out early holiday gifts to launch the Toys for Tots campaign. If you want to participate in the Toys for Tots drive, donation boxes are at each Disney on Ice venue to accept new, unwrapped toys when you attend the show.
If you want to see Disney on Ice – Celebrations, they will be at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale through this Sunday, November 15 and then they will move on to New Jersey. You can use the code MOM** at Ticketmaster.com to purchase a 4-pack of tickets for only $44 for weekday shows or receive $4 off Friday night and weekend tickets.
